Auburn Recruiting: Tigers Land Big-Time Offensive Tackle
The Auburn hiring machine never stops!
Unsurprisingly, the Peach State has made the most recent commitment. Top offensive lineman for the Tigers have traditionally been known to come from the state of Georgia. As an illustration, 2023 rookie Connor Lew, who replaced an injured Avery Jones, left Pro Football Focus with outstanding grades. Lew moved to Auburn from Kennesaw Mountain in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Additionally, the Tigers were successful in acquiring Favor Edwin, a 2024 offensive tackle recruit from McDonough, Georgia’s Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy. Coach Jake Thornton of Auburn’s offensive line has great expectations for him. The same goes for Auburn’s latest offensive line prospect from Georgia.
Auburn will be receiving Tavaris Dice from Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes. He is a 4-star prospect for Rivals who comes from a talented state like Georgia, ranking 36th overall. When you see Dice on screen, it makes sense.
Dice, a left tackle for Langston Hughes, is incredibly adept at bending his knees, staying low, and overwhelming opponents. The 290-pound, 6-foot-6 Auburn prospect is equally skilled in run blocking and pass protection. That is not common. At this point in their development, the majority of high school offensive linemen are significantly better at blocking runs. Auburn is winning a nationwide recruitment competition because of these attributes.
Beyond Auburn, some of Dice’s offers include programs like Georgia, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Missouri, Miami, Louisville, North Carolina State, Duke, Southern California, Maryland, and West Virginia.
In addition to being Auburn’s most sought-after recruiting acquisition, Dice plays a potentially crucial position for the Tigers. Auburn’s offensive tackle recruiting class has frequently lacked quantity and top skill for the better part of a decade. Thankfully, with Edwin and these two new, outstanding hires, the trend is now going in the opposite way.
Dice joins Spencer Dowland of Athens (Ala.) High School as the class of 2025’s second offensive tackle. Expect the Tigers to keep searching for top offensive tackles during this cycle. For offensive line recruits nationwide and in the South, this is a fantastic year.
