Bears trade Justin Fields to Steelers
The Chicago Bears finally traded quarterback Justin Fields on Saturday, sending the former first-rounder to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
At last, the Chicago Bears took the action that everyone had been waiting for. Following three unimpressive and uninspired seasons, the Bears dealt quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday. Fields hasn’t played well for the Steelers in a few years, so they’ll offer a draft pick in return.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport came around first with the news on Saturday afternoon.
“The Bears are trading QB Justin Fields to the Steelers,” Rapoport said.
According to Schefter, “Bears are trading Justin Fields for a 2025 sixth-round pick that goes to a fourth-round pick based on playtime.”
So ends a disappointing run in Chicago for Fields. The Bears drafted him high in the 2021 NFL Draft, hoping he would help change a difficult and stubbornly long quarterback drought in the Windy City. Things didn’t really go that way. Through mismanagement, disorganization, and admittedly poor play at times, Fields played his way out of the situation.
The Bears couldn’t resist taking another shot at the number one pick with Caleb Williams available. They continue as of right now, probably selecting Williams 1-1 in the NFL Draft in April. For Fields, it can be challenging. In Pittsburgh, he’ll most likely be seated behind Russell Wilson the next season. He may have to accept a pay decrease. However, if things work out for him, he might have a comeback
