Will Auburn Retain Skilled In-State Prospect Away From Miami And Georgia?
Perhaps there isn’t a more complete 2025 prospect than the one that is currently at Auburn.
This young man is known to play linebacker, safety, running back, quarterback, and receiver. It’s also a lot of fun to see his highlight film. Having observed the Tigers in action during spring training, Eric Winters took a few minutes to talk about his recruiting situation.
After practice, Winters remarked, “It seemed like the entire team had a different demeanor towards practice today.” “They had a different type of energy.”
Winters mentioned how much he like D.J. Durkin’s approach to linebacker coaching as the new defensive coordinator. Regarding how aggressively the AU staff is trying to recruit him, Winters gives a direct response.
“At this moment, I feel like the best of the best. It’s unique.”
Winters provided another succinct response when asked why he supports Auburn and believes the Tigers will succeed.
“It’s that family feeling you get.”
With Winters, Georgia and Auburn are the teams to watch, with a third and even a fourth team emerging.
“Miami, their coaches have been recruiting me pretty hard. Tennessee, too.”
Winters intends to visit Auburn again this spring, perhaps for the spring game, so he will be returning to the Plains sooner rather than later. He also intends to travel to Tennessee on March 23 and Miami on March 30, as well as Georgia shortly.
The nation’s #192 prospect, Rivals, is inclined to play a safety position in college—possibly a hybrid linebacker/safety job. He’s being recruited by both AU and UGA for that position. A choice ought to be made shortly. The spring game for Winters’ Enterprise (Ala.) High School team should be postponed until after his college decision.
He plays on the same team as top Auburn edge target Zion Grady, to sum up. Does Grady’s choice of college affect Winters then?
“Yes, for sure.”
