Josh Dobbs has joined yet another new team in 2023 after playing for two different teams during the regular season.

According to sources, the 49ers and the former Vikings quarterback have reached an agreement on a one-year contract with a $2.25 million guarantee, as reported on Monday by NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Rapoport and Garafolo both noted that $750,000 in playing incentives are part of the agreement.

Before Week 1, Dobbs, 29, was dealt to Arizona from the Cleveland Browns, where he started the previous preseason. Dobbs was given the starting job by Arizona over Clayton Tune upon his arrival with the Cardinals. After starting eight of Arizona’s games, Dobbs had a 1-7 record.

Due to Kirk Cousins’ Achilles injury, Minnesota acquired the journeyman quarterback through trade. After suffering a concussion in his first NFL start, Jaren Hall made a spectacular debut in Week 9 against the Falcons. Following the victory, Dobbs played inconsistently and had some key turnovers in his 2-2 start record as a starter. In Week 15, Kevin O’Connell benched Dobbs in favor of Nick Mullens.
