Ahead of their Round 4 matchup against the Penrith Panthers, the Sydney Roosters have released an official medical update on the injured quintet of Sam Walker, Lindsay Collins, Sandy Smith, and Billy Smith.

Sam Walker was carted off the field against the Rabbitohs and the independent physician determined that he had suffered a Category 1 concussion. The club has announced that Walker will be available for action this week.

The NRL has recently downgraded it to a Category 2 concussion, therefore Walker is exempt from the 11-day stand-down requirement.

Let’s keep updating our injury reports. The Roosters have revealed that Origin prop Lindsay Collins has a low-grade left hamstring strain, as verified by MRI scans. He has started the club’s rehabilitation program.

Utility player Sandon Smith suffered an elbow hyperextension following an outstanding performance against the Rabbitohs.

The Roosters have not yet disclosed a timetable for his return, but they did disclose that scans indicated a serious injury to his left elbow’s medial ligament.

“The medical team has commenced rehab on the non-surgical injury and will continue testing to decide his return to play date,” the statement stated.

The last injured player about whom the team has given an update was Billy Smith. Smith was injured while playing in the NSW Cup, and scans revealed that “a small cartilage injury alongside his known lateral ligament injury” existed.

“He will undergo an arthroscopy today (Monday) to assess the injury further and repair any damage found,” the club stated.
