Report: Tennessee RB Cam Seldon to miss the rest of spring with shoulder injury
Tough break.
The return of football, at least in spring form, signifies the resurgence of injuries. Volquest claims that Cam Seldon, a sophomore running back, is the most recent player to be added to the injury report. According to the article, Seldon had surgery to treat a shoulder injury that he sustained.
Seldon will complete his rehabilitation during the summer, skipping the remaining spring term. He is expected back by the fall.
Seldon is accompanied on the sidelines by true freshman Peyton Lewis, who underwent surgery as soon as he arrived on campus. Only Dylan Sampson, Khalifa Keith, and DeSean Bishop remain on the depth chart, which means Tennessee will be extremely shorthanded at running back for the remainder of the spring.
Seldon played in 12 games for Tennessee as a true freshman. Against UConn, the former four-star player had his first meaningful action in the backfield, handling six carries for 35 yards. After Jaylen Wright and Jabari Small decided not to play in the bowl game, Seldon supported Dylan Sampson against Iowa, giving us a sneak peek at 2024.
Seldon ran the ball 13 times for 55 yards in the Citrus Bowl. Once healthy again, the 6-2, 222-pound back should easily return to the RB2 position.
But for the time being, Bishop and Keith will receive a lot of reps and ought to be completely prepared for the autumn.
