Analyst Believes Giants Should Target 1 QB Prospect In Draft
The New York Giants’ 2023 NFL Season did not go as planned.
Many observers and supporters anticipated that under Daniel Jones’ direction, the Giants would advance further following their 2022 playoff victory.
But the Giants failed to meet their objectives because Jones and a number of other players sustained critical injuries.
Some have proposed that the team cut Jones completely as they eye the 2024 season, particularly in light of the caliber of the quarterbacks selected in this year’s draft class.
In a recent appearance on The Carton Show, Victor Cruz outlined his argument for the Giants to select J.J. McCarthy in the draft in order to move on from Jones.
“They need to make a splash,” Cruz said, adding, “I want them to bring in a guy like J.J. McCarthy.”
Cruz notes that McCarthy hails from a Michigan system that is led by John Harbaugh.
One of the main reasons Harbaugh returned to the NFL during the offseason from the NCAA ranks was because he is regarded as an excellent coach.
McCarthy might be able to make a huge impact on whatever team takes a chance on him if he can apply the lessons he acquired from the renowned coach to the NFL.
It remains to be seen if that is indeed the Giants.
With Jones’ contract extension, the organization did commit to a four-year deal, but as fans have seen with the Denver scenario involving Russell Wilson, anything can happen in the NFL.
The organization might find a way to make McCarthy their starting quarterback in 2024 if the front office values him as highly as Cruz does.
