Sioux City East Edge Manasse Kasongo-Malu never anticipated an invited visit to a Nebraska football practice would lead to an offer — nor the attention that would follow.
“I was very shocked when the head coach offered me,” Kasongo-Malu said of his Husker offer he received last Thursday.
The Huskers under Matt Rhule aren’t afraid to go outside the box for its talent procurement and that led to the staff making sure Kasongo-Malu was brought in for a practice so they could quite literally size up his 6-foot-7, 230-pound frame in person.
The basketball player has collegiate interest and remains intrigued by the hardwood after averaging 11 points and nine rebounds last season for Sioux City Easy, but with a football offer in hand at a Power Five school and more likely to follow, things have changed a lot in a week for Kasongo-Malu.
