Class of 2025 Safety Javion Butts commits to UNC football program
Butts becomes the seventh player to join the UNC football program’s 2025 recruiting class.
Even though the Gray, Georgia native had some official visits scheduled in a few weeks, his college decision came a lot earlier than anticipated, as Butts has officially committed to North Carolina.
Butts’ recent unofficial trips to Chapel Hill seem to have sealed the deal, as this announcement came following his visit to campus this weekend. His previous stop came at the end of February, as he was in the area when the UNC basketball program defeated Duke to capture the ACC regular season title.
The 6-foot, 172-pound safety becomes the seventh player to join the UNC football program’s 2025 recruiting class, as the Tar Heels are already ranked among the top 20 classes according to 247Sports. With the addition of Butts, North Carolina should move up in the rankings, as there is plenty of time for Mack Brown and company to rise among the top recruiting classes in the nation.
Butts is a player who, in the opinion of North Carolina defensive backs coach Charlton Warren, could play a variety of positions once he gets to Chapel Hill, according to Inside Carolina. The Tar Heels think he may play both safety spots and see some time at star even though he is listed as a safety.
As the UNC football team attempts to assemble another solid group to help lead the program going forward, the recruiting trail for the Class of 2025 is getting hotter.
