Rabbitohs star Mitchell banned for elbow on Shaun Johnson
The three-week suspension of fullback Latrell Mitchell for elbowing Warriors halfback Shaun Johnson in the face last Saturday has made South Sydney’s dismal NRL season start much worse.
After his team lost 34–4 in Sydney, Mitchell entered a guilty plea to a grade-two dangerous contact charge. With only one win in five games, the Rabbitohs were last on the standings.
The Rabbitohs’ games against the Sharks, Storm, and Panthers will be missed by him.
Dom Young, a winger for the Roosters, will miss two games after entering a guilty plea to a charge of reckless high tackle.
After last Friday night’s high tackle on Blake Taaffe in the 27th minute, Young became the first player to be sent off this season.
The England winger will not be eligible for the Dragons fixture on Anzac Day until after missing the next two games against the Knights and Storm.
Kurt Donoghoe, a utility player for the Dolphins, was received a two-game suspension after admitting to high-tackling Wests Tigers player Fainu Samuela during his team’s 26-16 victory against them in Brisbane last Saturday.
