In women’s college basketball, South Carolina basketball is the leading program. In the championship game on Sunday, the Gamecocks defeated Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes 87-75 to win their third national championship.
Along with their team, head coach Dawn Staley and her group have amassed an almost endless list of individual accolades. The Gamecocks won eight SEC titles, Kamilla Cardoso was named the WBCA National Defensive Player of the Year, Te-Hina Paopao and Cardoso were All-Americans, and Staley earned many National Coach of the Year accolades.
The award wins for the 2023-2024 Gamecocks might not be over, though.
The UniSwag Uniform of the Year honor is still up for grabs, and South Carolina basketball is a finalist for the award along with the Southern Cal Trojans, East Carolina Pirates, Florida Gators, Maryland Terrapins, Tennessee Volunteers, Iowa Hawkeyes, UCF Knights, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Pittsburgh Panthers, Texas Longhorns, UCLA Bruins, UConn Huskies, and North Carolina Tar Heels.
If you need a refresher on Carolina’s uniforms from this season, check them out below.
The Gamecocks’ black uniform is one of the smoothest road uniform designs in all of college basketball.
The home whites are a clean and classic look. (And they look even better when seen on a dunk by Ashlyn Watkins)
The “Tribute to Cocky” alternate home uniforms are the coolest alternate jersey the Gamecocks have ever used.
Even the least-worn uniform from this season, the road garnet, is a nice look.
Though there are many excellent uniforms in the modern game, the South Carolina Gamecocks have a strong, deep roster, and this year’s UniSwag Uniform of the Year winner ought to return to Columbia with the other trophies.
