Gavin Williams Experiences Set Back In Elbow Rehab, Guardians News
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Gavin Williams
Cleveland Guardians: Gavin Williams was out for a week following the recurrence of elbow discomfort.
The Cleveland Guardians are having a great season thus far, and the atmosphere in the clubhouse seems to be nothing but good. However, the group was not so happy to hear bad news on Wednesday afternoon that would affect them for the duration of the season.
According to the most recent report from the squad, Gavin Williams, who was meant to establish himself as the team’s ace in 2024, will be sidelined longer than expected.
Following his most recent appearance, Williams’ rehabilitation took a turn for the worse when the elbow pain he had throughout spring training returned. As of right now, the goal is for him to be kicked out and shut down for seven days, and then resume his throwing program.
The hope is that Williams will be able to begin throwing and pick up right where he left off once the seven days are up. However, that remains to be seen.
Williams started experiencing elbow pain in March following a weighted ball toss.
Stephen Vogt emphasized that the company is handling Williams with the utmost caution. Given the unusually high rate of injuries in the sport, why wouldn’t they want to exercise caution?
So far in the 2024 season, pitching injuries have dominated baseball’s narrative for both the Guardians and the whole league.Trevor Stephan, Daniel Espino, and Shane Bieber are just a few of the well-known pitchers that are sidelined for protracted stretches of time.
Hopefully, when the seven days are done, Williams is back on the mound without any problems. Fans will still be concerned, though, given the current state of the game’s injuries.
