Wisconsin Badgers offer Grand Valley State transfer DL Jay'Viar Suggs

Even if it doesn’t appear like the program will draw in a lot of spring additions, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will always be monitoring things on the transfer portal.

On Friday, Jay’viar Suggs revealed on Twitter that the Huskers had made a formal offer, adding an intriguing name to the mix.

Suggs is listed on the site, however his most recent play was in the 2023 season at Michigan’s Grand Valley State University, when he finished with five sacks and 7.5 tackles for a loss.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound product of Flint, Michigan played in 2022 and 2023 after redshirting in 2019. Aside from Nebraska, Suggs seems to be more interested in Big Ten schools as both Iowa and Wisconsin seem to be strong contenders at this stage of the recruiting process and have made offers. Suggs attended Grand Valley and played for Wisconsin assistant coach Matt Martin before the coach was hired to teach the linebackers for Wisconsin.

TCU, Colorado State, Arkansas, Houston, Indiana, and Kansas State have all expressed interest in the defensive lineman. There are still two years left on his eligibility.

Nebraska acquired Chief Borders and Elijah Jeudy the previous cycle, thus they did not add defensive line support via the transfer site.
