Nebraska guard Ru’Quan Buckley entered the transfer portal on Thursday, a source told Husker247.

Buckley, who began his Husker career on the defensive line, moved to guard late last season and worked there this spring.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder from Michigan appeared in one game as a reserve defensive lineman over his first two seasons in the program, then played in eight games last season as a defensive lineman, recording a quarterback hurry against Louisiana Tech and a quarterback hurry against Michigan.

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule had nice things to say about Buckley’s impact off the field earlier this spring.

“Ru’Quan is one of those guys on the team that whatever room he’s in is a better room,” Rhule said. “He’s one of those fundamental leaders that raises the standard of everyone in the room. When he speaks everyone listens. When he speaks I listen.”

According to 247Sports, Buckley was a three-star talent from Godwin Heights, Michigan, with an overall grade of 87.

Since the conclusion of spring ball, Buckley is the fourth Husker to access the transfer portal. In the last few days, walk-on quarterback Jack Woche, walk-on defensive end Korver Demma, and EDGE Chief Borders have all accessed the site.
