Three teams in running for gun back rower’s signature after Fifita drama — Transfer Whispers

Three NRL teams are reportedly in the hunt for in-form back rower Angus Crichton’s signature from 2025.

Two months ago, short odds would have been bet around Crichton leaving the Roosters after this season when his current deal expires, however the 27-year-old’s has been in blistering form, with the Tricolours keen to sign him to an extension.

In addition to the Roosters, Crichton’s former club South Sydney have reportedly expressed interest, as well as defending champions Penrith according to News Corp.

Adding intrigue to the situation was the Roosters’ failed chase of David Fifita, who backed out of a deal with the Bondi-based club to remain with the Titans.

Crichton made no secret of his frustration with not only the Roosters’ pursuit of Fifita, but how the club left him in the dark.NRL 2024: Transfer Whispers, Angus Crichton, French rugby union, Sydney Roosters, Billy Walters set to sign extension with Broncos, Kevin Walters, Ezra Mam, Adam Reynolds, Reece Walsh, news, reaction

With Fifita staying put, it’s no surprise to see the Roosters are keen to extend Crichton, who has arguably been the form back rower of the competition over the past four to five weeks and has rocketed into contention for a spot in the Blues squad for Game I.

Many of Crichton’s teammates, including Terrell May and Victor Radley have publicly expressed their desire for Crichton to remain with the Roosters.

“I have a lot of love for Angus. He had a lot of love for me when I first came here. He’s one of the day one boys that I look up to,” May said.

“I love Angus and I wish he stays but no one wants to be second to anyone, so I hope he does what’s best for him.

“I love Angus, he’s kind of the benchmark back-rower this season, especially this last month,” Radley said.
