Auburn extends an offer to 2028 RB Chris Davis III, son of ‘Kick Six’ legend Chris Davis
The opportunity to once again hear the words “There goes Davis!” during an Auburn football game could present itself in the near future after Hugh Freeze and the Tigers extended an offer to Chris “CJ” Davis III on Monday.
Chris Davis III is the son of former Auburn defensive back Chris Davis, who famously ran a missed field goal back 109 yards to beat Alabama in the 2013 Iron Bowl.
The younger Davis is a class of 2028 running back at Hewitt-Trussville and is listed at 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds as he enters his freshman year of high school.
“Extremely Blessed to receive an offer from Auburn University,” Chris Davis III wrote in a post to X, the social media platform formerly known at Twitter, on Monday evening. Chris Davis III included a photo of him and his father from when Chris Davis was still playing for the Tigers.
With Chris Davis III’s recruitment still in the infant stages, Auburn becomes an early player for the legacy recruit. However, the Tigers weren’t the first to offer Chris Davis III.
Instead, that distinction goes to UCF after former Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and the Knights extended an offer to the 2028 running back on July 25, 2023.
According to Chris Davis III’s social media, he has also received offers from Florida State and Arkansas.
