Auburn football closing in on 4-star cornerback Blake Woodby
Auburn football is trending up for a former Ohio State commit, 4-star cornerback Blake Woodby
Four-star cornerback Blake Woodby committed to Ohio State in October of 2023. The timeline on his 247 Sports biography states that on May 16, 2024, Woodby renounced his commitment to the Buckeyes, and the same day, the Auburn football team made him an offer.
Throughout his Ohio State pledge, Woodby maintained contact with schools at Auburn, Michigan, Florida, and other universities while also keeping his recruitment fairly open. Shortly after his decommitment, Woodby planned his official visit to the Plains, and the Auburn Tigers have already elevated him to a top target. This weekend, the cornerback will pay Auburn an official visit.
Ahead of the visit, On3 Sports’ Vice President of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong logged an official prediction for Wooodby to end up as a Tiger.
According to On3 Sports, Wiltfong stated, “I’ve talked sources around Auburn today, and there is a lot of optimism going into the visit this weekend.” Two national recruiting analysts for 247 Sports also recorded their Crystal Ball predictions for Woodby to enroll at Auburn this morning, in addition to Wiltfong’s.
Woodby, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, is rated as the #8 cornerback in the recruiting class of 2025 and the #2 talent in his state. He is ranked #74 overall, making him a Top 100 recruit.
According to Auburn Wire, the Auburn football team and head coach Hugh Freeze will be heavily recruiting this weekend, as the Tigers will be hosting a number of prospects for official visits. Woodby will be joined on the Plains by five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, four-star offensive lineman Broderick Shull, four-star linebacker Elijah Menendez (a Miami commit), four-star defensive lineman Kalen Edwards, and four-star tight end Emaree Winston (a Texas commit).
