J.B. Bickerstaff Breaks Silence After Being Fired By Cavs
The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the hunt for a new head coach.
JB Bickerstaff’s tenure in The Land wasn’t particularly the best, but it was far from a failure.
If anything, it was kind of surprising to see the team part ways with him after what they did this season, although some reports revealed that the players and staffers weren’t satisfied with him anymore.
And now that he’s not there, he looked back on last season and weighed in on whether it was a successful season or not.
Talking on SiriusXM NBA Radio, he claimed that the season had definitely been a success, as they had to overcome plenty of adversity to get to where they got to.
The Cavs endured injuries to Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, and Evan Mobley for big stretches of the campaign.
They still managed to win 48 regular-season games and get the No. 4 seed, and they were even in play for the No. 2 selection.
Then, they lost Jarrett Allen in the playoffs, yet they still managed to beat the Orlando Magic in the first round of the playoffs.
Under those circumstances, it’s hard to disagree with Bickerstaff, as the Cavs kind of overachieved.
Now, they have to make some big decisions about their roster, starting with Mitchell’s contract extension.
If he stays, they will most likely have to find a trade partner for Darius Garland, and the same might happen with Jarrett Allen, as Evan Mobley is most likely going to get a contract extension in the summer.
