Two wide receivers, Jayden Sellers (3-star from South Carolina) and Brian Rowe (4-star from North Carolina), have committed to the South Carolina football program for the class of 2025. They were the first two pledges in the ’25 cycle for Shane Beamer and his Gamecock team.

However, the Gamecocks would prefer to add some more youthful talent at wide receiver because at least four wideouts will graduate from the school after 2024 (not to include any transfer portal defections or early NFL Draft entrants).

Malik Clark, a 4-star recruit out of Rock Hill High School, is one of the best receiver targets still available to the Gamecocks. Clark’s recruiting grades have increased in recent years, and he possesses a terrific combination of exceptional speed and size.

On Tuesday, Clark announced he had whittled his list of top schools down to just five, and the South Carolina football program made the cut.

Clark’s top-5 list includes the South Carolina Gamecocks, North Carolina Tar Heels, Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, and NC State Wolfpack. South Carolina, North Carolina, and NC State have been involved heavily with Clark for a long time, and those three teams are considered the favorites in his recruitment.

As a player, Clark has the potential to be a special player at the next level. He is 6’2″ heading into his senior year, and he has legitimate track speed (he’s posted 100-meter track times in the 10.5-range and 40-yard dash times in the 4.3s). He isn’t just a straight-line sprinter, though, as Clark has some good wiggle after the catch, as well. His athleticism also shines through with the ball in the air, making him a much more all-around talent at the position than most other high school receivers.
