A week after OV, Top247 CB Blake Woodby returns and camps at Auburn
Woodby made a surprise trip down to Auburn again this weekend, joining his teammate for the Elite Camp.
Blake Woodby’s Surprising Return to Auburn and Growing Connection with the Tigers
AUBURN, Alabama — The Plains saw an unexpected yet exciting visitor this past weekend as Top247 cornerback Blake Woodby made his second trip to Auburn in as many weeks. The St. Frances Academy (Md.) standout had just completed his official visit the weekend before and had no plans to return until the highly anticipated Big Cat Weekend. However, the lure of Auburn and the bonds he began forming proved too strong to stay away.
Woodby’s initial visit left a lasting impression on the talented cornerback. “From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt something special,” Woodby shared. “The coaches, the facilities, the whole atmosphere—it just felt like home.” This sentiment seemed to resonate deeply, prompting a quick return to Auburn, which speaks volumes about his growing interest in the Tigers.
A Special Bond with Auburn’s Coaching Staff
One of the key elements fostering Woodby’s connection to Auburn is the rapport he has developed with the coaching staff, particularly defensive coordinator and linebackers coach D.J. Durkin. During his official visit, Woodby had the opportunity to engage in detailed discussions with Coach Durkin about the program’s vision, defensive schemes, and how he could fit into Auburn’s future plans.
“Coach Durkin has been amazing,” Woodby said. “He’s not just focused on what I can do on the field but also on my development as a person and a student. That’s important to me and my family.”
It was these meaningful interactions that motivated Woodby to return sooner than planned. After discussing his experience with friends, including 2025 linebacker Bryce Deas, who was also intrigued by Woodby’s accounts, the pair decided to head back to Auburn for a more intimate and hands-on experience.
The Elite Camp Experience
Woodby and Deas participated in the Elite Camp, giving them an opportunity to showcase their skills and work directly with Auburn’s coaching staff. For Woodby, this camp was another chance to see firsthand how Auburn’s coaching philosophy and techniques align with his own goals as a player.
“Being able to get on the field and work with Coach Durkin and the rest of the staff was incredible,” Woodby remarked. “Their energy, their attention to detail, and their commitment to making every player better is exactly what I’m looking for in a program.”
The Elite Camp also provided Woodby with a closer look at the campus and the camaraderie among the players and coaches. These experiences are crucial for recruits who want to ensure they are choosing a program that feels like a second home.
Building Towards a Commitment?
Woodby’s back-to-back visits to Auburn suggest that the Tigers have made a significant impact on his recruitment process. While he has yet to make a final decision, it’s clear that Auburn is a top contender. The bond he is developing with the coaching staff and the comfort he feels on campus are strong indicators that Auburn might just be the place where he sees his future unfolding.
“I’m taking my time with my decision because it’s important to make the right choice,” Woodby explained. “But I can definitely say that Auburn has given me a lot to think about. There’s something special here, and it’s a place where I can see myself growing both on and off the field.”
As Woodby continues to navigate his recruitment journey, Auburn fans can remain hopeful that his unique connection with the Tigers will ultimately lead to a commitment. For now, the excitement around Woodby’s potential future in Auburn remains high, and his story is one to watch closely as the recruiting season progresses.
