Steelers LB Payton Wilson: I’m going to help this team win a Super Bowl
The Pittsburgh Steelers have the potential to field one of the NFL’s best linebacking groups in the NFL.
Pittsburgh signed Patrick Queen away from the Baltimore Ravens on a three-year deal and drafted Payton Wilson out of North Carolina State in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft to go along with Elandon Roberts and Cole Holcomb.
Wilson spoke with Aaron Backer of Yardbarker after the team’s final minicamp practice and was asked what he’s learned from Queen thus far.
“We’ll be in certain zone coverages or certain man [coverage], or he’ll se something pre-snap that just allows him to trigger and make a play,” Wilson said. “So just kind of being in his hip pocket like ‘Hey man, what did you see to do this?’ He’s so smart that he’s able to kind of manipulate a quarterback.”

Wilson added that the Steelers’ veterans have told him all about training camp at St. Vincent.
“Yeah, they said it’s one of the hardest camps in the league,” Wilson said. “But I’m blue-collar. I grew up on a far. I’m super excited to kind of put the ball down and let’s play ball… I’m just super excited to get to Latrobe and compete. Like I said since I was a youngin’, I want to be the best in the world… I’m gonna come in and I’m gonna help this team win a Super Bowl.”
