Leeds United have confirmed that Rob Price has left his role at Elland Road.

The Whites revealed via their official website on Friday (21 June) that Price, who was Head of Medicine & Performance at the club, has left his role to pursue a new career opportunity.

Chief Executive Angus Kinnear wrote, “On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank Rob for his commitment and dedication to Leeds United, especially during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic in the 2019/20 season.

“We all have great respect and appreciation for Rob, and naturally we are disappointed to see him leave the club, but we wish him every success in the future.”

According to his official LinkedIn page, Price has taken a role at Derby County as Sports science and Medical Lead.

It is no surprise that Kinnear and the club are disappointed to see Price go.

He was an integral part of the backroom staff at Thorp Arch and played a huge role in helping the club to navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic.

It can’t be underestimated just how tough of a job that would have been for Price, and he therefore deserves plenty of praise for the work he did.

In addition, he was a big part of Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw’s recoveries when both players spent some time on the sideline nursing long-term injuries.

It isn’t often that such a heartfelt message is penned to a behind-the-scenes figure at the club, and it therefore demonstrates just how much of an impact Price had on the people he worked with at Elland Road.

Leeds would have already been planning for plenty of changes on the pitch this summer, and this new recruitment hunt will therefore provide an added unnecessary headache.
