Butch Thompson and the Auburn baseball program continues to find success in the transfer portal as Texas A&M transfer infielder Jett Johnston announced his plans to transfer to Auburn in a post to social media Sunday evening.

When Johnston arrives to The Plains, he’ll do so on the heels of a freshman campaign that saw he and the Aggies reach the Men’s College World Series final, where they ultimately fell to Tennessee. Texas A&M has since seen a handful of players hit the transfer portal after Jim Schlossnagle left College Station for the head coaching job at the University of Texas.

Primarily a reserve infielder during the 2024 season, Johnston appeared in 13 games and logged 16 at-bats. He finished the year with three hits, two RBIs, five walks and five scored runs. In the field, Johnston logged a pair of putouts.HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Amarillo High vs. Tascosa, April 30

Coming out of Farragut High School in the Knoxville, Tennessee area, Johnston ranked as the No. 180 overall prospect in the class of 2023 and the ninth-ranked third baseman, according to Perfect Game. Johnston finished his prep career having tallied a pair of state titles at Farragut and closed out his senior season with a .401 average, 50 hits, 13 home runs, 48 RBIs and 26 walks.

With Johnston’s commitment, Auburn’s incoming transfer class swells to eight players as he joins Samford transfer Lucas Steele, USF transfer Eric Snow, Birmingham-Southern transfer Andrew Dutton, East Carolina transfer Bristol Carter, LSU transfer Sam Dutton, Cal-Baptist transfer Ryan Hetzler and Creighton transfer Mason Koch.
