The safeties who took official visits with the Miami football program in June vary between 247Sports and On3. Some of the safeties are listed as cornerbacks while others are more generically projected as a defensive back. Any prospect being listed as a safety will be examined below.

Five-star prospect D.J. Pickett is listed as a safety by 247Sports and a cornerback by On3. Four-star prospect Eric Winters is listed as a linebacker by 247Sports and a safety by On3. Hylton Stubbs is a four-star prospect listed as an athlete who is projected as a safety in college.

Winters was the first potential safety to take an official visit to Miami the weekend of May 31. The 247Sports composite ranks Winters as the 66th prospect, seventh safety and fifth player in Alabama. After official visits with Miami, Georgia and Auburn, Winters chose the Tigers on June 15.

Four-star prospect Anquon Fegans was the sole safety to visit Miami the weekend of June 7. Fegans is a high four-star prospect ranked 45th overall nationally, the fourth-best safety and second player in Alabama. Four 247Sports crystal balls project Fegans to Auburn and On3 gives the Tigers a 70.8 percent chance for a commitment.

Three-star prospect Sael Reyes, Pickett and four-star Amari Wallace took their official visits to Miami during the weekend of June 14. Miami’s standing with Pickett, Reyes and Wallace varies greatly. Pickett is the only one of the three safeties taking official visits the weekend of June 14 that is currently uncommitted.

SMU hosted Reyes for an official visit in May before his trip to Coral Gables in June. Reyes committed to SMU following his visit. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently lists Texas A&M as the favorite for Reyes at 83.0 percent. The higher-ranked safeties seem like bigger priorities for Miami.

Wallace committed to Miami a few days after his official visit with the Hurricanes. The 247Sports composite rankings list Wallace as the 293rd player, 25th safety and 41st player in Florida in the 2025 class. Wallace is one of three defensive backs and the only safety committed to Miami for 2025.

Pickett would be a foundational player for Miami in the 2025 class as the eighth-ranked prospect and five-star recruit in the 2025 class. LSU, Georgia, Miami and Oregon hosted Pickett for official visits in June. The On3 RPM project LSU with a 27.9 percent chance for a commitment from Pickett and Miami second at 14.3 percent.

Miami closed out June with visits from Fitzgerald and Stubbs. Fitzgerald and Stubbs both remain uncommitted. Linebacker Elijah Melendez and edge rusher Herbert Scroggins who are committed to Miami also took their official visits to Miami the weekend of June 21.

Fitzgerald is reportedly trending to Florida. LSU, Florida, Florida State and Miami hosted Fitzgerald for official visits in June per 247Sports. There are no crystal balls logged for Fitzgerald currently. Miami appears to be focused elsewhere at safety than the Miami Columbus star.

Stubbs is trending to Miami with his commitment scheduled for Thursday shortly after noon. There are four 247Sports crystal balls projecting Stubbs will commit to Miami. The commitment to Miami would come less than a month after Stubbs de-committed from USC.

Stubbs and Wallace would provide Miami with an excellent safety pair in the future. Four-star safety Zaquan Patterson who signed with Miami in the 2024 class is the future for the Hurricanes at the position. Miami also signed safeties Dylan Day and Isaiah Thomas in the 2024 class.
