Arkansas Football’s Big Commitment Announcement Labeled ‘Surprise of the Summer’

The Arkansas Razorbacks shocked the world with one recruiting commitment. On3 Sports recruiting analyst Josh Newberg calls it “the surprise of the summer.”

The Razorbacks earned a commitment from elite Jesup (GA) linebacker Tavion Wallace.

Wallace surprisingly chose Arkansas over the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles and in-state powerhouse Georgia Bulldogs.

The talented player described what he intends to bring the Razorbacks when he gets on campus in an interview with On3 Sports’ Phillip Dukes.

“My versatility. Not many linebackers as big as me can run as fast as I can, guard receivers, tight ends, running back and blitz off the edge, blitz A-gap.”

It’s clear the gifted linebacker recruit isn’t shying away from any responsibility on the defense. He’s not afraid to be isolated in coverage.

Wallace instantly becomes the top player in the Razorbacks’ recruiting class. He ranks as the No. 3 linebacker and No. 57 overall player in On3 Sports’ industry rankings.

There’s been uncertainty around the Arkansas football program after a 4-8 season in 2023. The commitment of the talented linebacker adds more certainty for future seasons.

Arkansas opens the season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday, Aug. 29.
