Hogs lose pitchers, signee on last day
FAYETTEVILLE — Two University of Arkansas junior pitchers and a Razorback baseball signee were drafted Tuesday on the final day of the MLB Draft.
Outfielder Eli Lovich, a signee from Blue Valley West High School in Overland Park, Kan., was drafted by the Chicago Cubs with the 332nd overall pick in the 11th round.
Arkansas right-hander Jake Faherty was drafted by the Miami Marlins 334th overall in the 11th round and right-hander Brady Tygart was a 12th-round selection of the Boston Red Sox, 357th overall.
Lovich, the younger brother of Ross Lovich, a senior outfielder on the Razorbacks’ team this year, was ranked the No. 474 prospect for the draft by Baseball America. His selection in the 11th round could be an indication the Cubs plan to offer him a signing bonus over slot value.
