The Charlotte Hornets guard Reggie Jackson is set to join the Philadelphia 76ers after agreeing to a contract buyout with his current team, ESPN sources claimed. He will join a rotation that includes All-Star Tyrese Maxey, rookie Jared McCain, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Eric Gordon.

Prior to the trade, Jackson decided to pick up the option on his $5.25 million salary for the 2024-25 season.

34 years of age, Jackson arrived at the Hornets in July as part of a trade with the Denver Nuggets that was believed to be a salary-cutting tactic. He spent the past two seasons with the Nuggets, winning the 2023 NBA Championship. Prior to arriving in Denver, Jackson played a pivotal role in the Los Angeles Clippers’ run to the Western Conference finals, averaging 17.8 points on 40% 3-point shooting. Over the course of his career, Jackson averaged 12.6 points and 4.2 assists.

Upon joining the 76ers, Jackson will surely be looking forward to reuniting with former LA Clippers teammate Paul George. Jackson’s arrival appears to be aligned with the 76ers’ strategy for the season, with the team building a roster full of veterans with plenty of big-game experience.
