Auburn softball adds experience to its bullpen in Big West Pitcher of the Year Haley Rainey
After a bit of silence, Auburn softball is back making noise in the transfer portal as the Tigers landed the commitment of Cal-State Fullerton transfer pitcher Haley Rainey on Thursday afternoon.
Rainey announced her commitment in a post to Instagram.
When Rainey arrives to The Plains, she will be coming of a junior season that saw her post a 17-7 record from the circle as she pitched 178.2 innings of action for the Titans.
Rainey went on to maintain a 1.68 ERA and only allowed a pair of home runs en route to collecting the Big West Conference’s Pitcher of the Year honor.
The right-handed ace stared 27 games for Cal Sate-Fullerton, helping pilot the Titans to the Big West Conference title.
After clinching the conference title, the Titans advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where they upset eight-seed Stanford, before ultimately being eliminated by the Cardinal in the second game of the day’s doubleheader.
Rainey pitched five innings of relief in the upset win, allowing four hits, no runs and striking out four.
Starting her career at Utah State, Rainey was named the Big Sky Freshman of the Year in 2022 as she tallied 163 strikeouts across 157 innings of work in her rookie season.
