4-Star DL Who Flipped From Alabama To Auburn Shuts Down Arrest Rumor Spread By Salty Tide Fans
Saraland defensive lineman Antonio Coleman has made headlines throughout his recruitment, having already flipped his pledge on three separate occasions. Those flips involve two rival schools.
The four-star defender initially committed to Alabama last September.
Months later, he switched to Auburn, though it wouldn’t take long for that decision to sway once again. In March, he re-committed to the Crimson Tide upon seeing Kalen DeBoer’s new coaching staff in Tuscaloosa.
While many believed his third pledge would stick, in a surprise move, he flipped back to the Tigers and Hugh Freeze.
Shortly after that flip, a nasty rumor began circulating social media of an arrest.
Antonio Coleman shut the whispers down on Thursday.
An arrest record of a man named Anthony Coleman began making the rounds on X early this week. Though a mugshot photo was cropped out, Tide fans ran with the assumption that it was the four-star prospect who’d been in trouble with the law.
It was not.
Auburn supporters quickly found the arrest record, and its accompanying mugshot – which showed an individual much older than the 17-year-old Antonio Coleman.
The lineman confirmed that the news was, indeed, false with a reply this week.
A number of Alabama fans owe Coleman an apology after spreading the misinformation. If he was debating a flip back to the Crimson Tide, he might rethink that option now.
Coleman is currently listed as the 100th-best recruit in 247 Sports’ rankings. The site considers him the 10th-best player in the state of Alabama, and the 14th-best player at his position.
If Hugh Freeze can hang onto his commitment, it will represent a major instate win for the Tigers as they look to continue rebuilding at Auburn.
