The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed American receiver Jordan Byrd.

The 24-year-old recently attended training camp with the Toronto Argonauts, but was released before the season started.

Byrd has spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, signing there after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft. He was later waived by the team at the end of training camp. The Albuquerque, N.M. native reportedly ran a 4.52-second forty-yard dash at his pro day and recorded a 34-inch vertical jump.

The five-foot-nine, 170-pound target recorded 1,353 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns and caught 47 passes for 219 yards and one touchdown over five seasons at San Diego State. He also recorded over 2,000 kick return yards and three return touchdowns during his tenure with the Aztecs and was twice named first-team All-Conference as a returner.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-7) will host the Edmonton Elks (2-7) on Saturday, Aug. 17 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
