After playing the previous four NFL seasons for Philadelphia, Jack Driscoll is back with the Eagles.

The former Auburn offensive tackle has been signed for the Philadelphia practice squad, the NFL team announced on Tuesday.

After joining the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Driscoll played in 54 regular-season and four playoff games, with 17 starts. He left Philadelphia in free agency on March 18, when he signed a one-year, $1.79 million contract that included a $400,000 signing bonus and $900,000 of guaranteed money with the Miami Dolphins

But on Aug. 28, after surviving the preseason-to-regular-season cut with Miami, Driscoll was released by the Dolphins, who had been awarded former Park Crossing High School standout Grant DuBose on waivers and needed to create a roster spot for the wide receiver.

During his first tour of duty with Philadelphia, Driscoll primarily served as the backup to right tackle Lane Johnson, a five-time Pro Bowler. In 2023, all but eight of Driscoll’s 172 offensive snaps came in three games when Johnson was dealing with injuries. Driscoll made four starts in 2020, one in 2021, two in 2022 and one in 2023 at right tackle. He also started eight games at right guard in 2021 and one at left tackle in 2022.

Driscoll returns to the Eagles with a new position on his resume. With the Dolphins, Driscoll started the first and third preseason games at center.

Each NFL team can have a 16-player practice squad (17 if the team has an International Pathway player). Practice-squad members work just as active-roster players, but they are not eligible to play in the games – with one exception. Each NFL team can elevate two practice-squad players to active status for each game.

The Eagles kick off their 2024 season against the Green Bay Packers at 7:15 p.m. CDT Friday in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Peacock will televise the game.

Another former Auburn offensive lineman was on the NFL’s transactions report on Tuesday: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released undrafted rookie Avery Jones from their practice squad.
