Last season, 32 players from Auburn appeared in NFL regular-season games. For the school’s alumni to reach that total again in 2024, there’s going to need to be some movement from the practice squad.

With the NFL’s 2024 season set to kick off on Thursday night, Auburn has 23 former players on the active rosters of the league’s 32 teams.

Another 13 former Tigers are on NFL practice squads.

Practice-squad members can play in regular-season games. Each NFL team can elevate two players from its practice squad to active status for each game.

Two other former Auburn players are starting the season on injured reserve, giving the program 38 players on current NFL rosters.

The most Auburn alumni who have played in one NFL season is 36 in 2018.

No NFL team has more than two former Auburn players on its 53-man active roster.

The Auburn players on NFL rosters include nine defensive backs, eight defensive linemen, six linebackers, four offensive linemen, three quarterbacks, three wide receivers, two running backs, one kicker, one long snapper and one tight end. That’s 23 defensive players, 13 offensive players and two specialists.

Ten of the former Auburn players have never appeared in an NFL regular-season game.
