Texas Longhorns: Steve Sarkisian Makes Shocking Announcement To Team Ahead Of Week 3
The #2 Texas Longhorns dominated the #17 Michigan Wolverines on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor, Michigan by a final score of 31-12. Texas’s performance caught the attention of a lot of people. Some people believe that the Texas Longhorns, the #3 Ohio State Buckeyes, and the #1 Georgia Bulldogs are by far the Top 3 teams in the country.
Texas Longhorns Steve Sarkisian understands the importance of respecting your opponents week in and week out. He did something very interesting in preparation for the UTSA matchup this weekend.
Texas Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian “Warns Team Of The Notre Dame Scenario”
There could be massive mood swings from one week to the next week in college football. In the first week of the college football season, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish went on the road and beat the Texas A&M Aggies. Last week, Notre Dame was ranked fifth in the nation and lost to the Northern Illinois Huskies at home by a final score of 14-13.
Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian spoke to Eli Lederman of ESPN and said on Monday:
“Human nature is human nature. So what did I do this morning? I walked them through the Notre Dame scenario of [the Irish] going into College Station a week ago and winning that game and being anointed a top-five team and in the College Football Playoff, then a week later losing to Northern Illinois. I showed them that clip of [Kanon Woodill‘s game-winning] field goal and I showed the clip of Northern Illinois storming the field this morning as a good reminder that we’re entitled to nothing. We’re capable of anything. We’ve got a really good team. But we’re entitled to nothing. We’re going to earn everything. And we’ve going to have to earn the victory here Saturday night.”
This is another example of the Longhorns head coach showing respect to his opponents and also telling his team that everything is earned and not given. They are one of the most talented teams in all of college football.
Texas Can’t Avoid a Letdown
The Texas Longhorns can not have a letdown at home against an inferior opponent after knocking off the defending champions, the Michigan Wolverines in a game on the road in a hostile environment. Texas is one of the best teams in the country.
This is a game against the UTSA Roadrunners where Quinn Ewers should be the quarterback in the first half and Arch Manning should be in the game by the middle of the second half. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has his team in the right mindset for the 2024 college football season.
