Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has praised red-hot AC Milan star Christian Pulisic ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League meeting between the teams.

With his goal against Lecce on Friday, the U.S. men’s national team forward has now scored in four straight games for the Rossoneri.

Overall, the 26-year-old has five goals and two assists in just seven games for Milan so far this season.

After falling to Liverpool in its Champions League opener, Milan will aim to bounce back against the Bundesliga champions at the BayArena on Tuesday.

Alonso’s side, which went the entirety of last season unbeaten in the league, started the Champions League in ominous form with a dominating 4-0 win at Feyenoord.

The Spanish boss spoke at a press conference on Monday, warning his side that it had to focus on more than just the in-form USMNT man.

“He’s in very good form, he’s an important player for Milan because he has a huge impact on the team,” Alonso said of Pulisic.

“He gets between the lines, he’s fast, but I can’t just focus on him, I’m also thinking about people like [Rafael] Leão or [Álvaro] Morata.”

After a difficult start to the season, Milan has rebounded with wins in three of its last four games. Friday’s victory over Lecce made it two straight in Serie A and took the team into third place in the table.

“We will have to be focused throughout the match,” Alonso added. “We don’t want to let them dominate the game, they are good at counterattacking. In the last match they scored three goals in five minutes… That’s Milan, with all their great players.

“They have speed and quality, for us it will be a great match but in the Champions League all the opponents are of a great level.”
