Texas longhorns Update: Steve Sarkisian and AD Chris Del Conte Makes Stunning Team Change/Announcement About Scheduling Games

The Texas Longhorns finished with a 13-3 record this past season in college football. The Longhorns once again reached the college football semifinals before losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Texas has been in the semifinals for the last two seasons. However, the Texas Longhorns have not won the National Title since the 2005 season against the USC Trojans when Vince Young was the quarterback. Head coach Steve Sarkisian will be entering his fifth college football season with the Longhorns program. Quinn Ewers was the starting quarterback for the last two seasons and Arch Manning will be ready to take over the reins as the starting quarterback this season.

The Longhorns faced the Alabama Crimson Tide during the 2022 and 2023 season. Last year, Texas faced the Michigan Wolverines in a tough out of conference matchup. To begin the 2025 college football season, the Texas Longhorns will head on the road and face the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Longhorns Athletic Director Chris Del Conte said to Inside Texas about scheduling tough out of conference opponents and they will continue to do so:

“Our brand should play the greatest brands in college football because we are the best.”

The Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns matchup to open up the 2025 season in Columbus, Ohio, is what college football fans are looking for. The loser of this game should potentially not be penalized for scheduling this game, especially since both teams have their sights on making the college football playoffs next season.
