After more than six decades of defining Southern rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd has officially announced their farewell tour, “The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour,” scheduled to take place in 2026. This announcement marks the closing chapter of one of the most iconic bands in American rock history, beloved for timeless anthems like “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Free Bird,” and “Simple Man.”
The farewell tour will begin in May 2026, launching from West Palm Beach, Florida, and continuing across major North American cities including Tampa, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, and Atlanta. Plans are also in place for an international leg of the tour, with select dates in the United Kingdom and Europe. Fans across the globe will have one final chance to witness the raw energy and powerful legacy of the band that has influenced generations of rock musicians.
Guitarist Gary Rossington, the band’s last original founding member before his passing in 2023, had long expressed a desire for the band to take one last journey across the country that supported them for decades. His wish now serves as the emotional foundation for this farewell run. Lead singer Johnny Van Zant, who stepped into the role after the tragic 1977 plane crash that claimed his brother Ronnie Van Zant and several other members, emphasized the importance of honoring their legacy with this final tour.
“This tour is for the fans,” said Van Zant. “We want to give them one last chance to hear the songs that have meant so much to them over the years. It’s about keeping the spirit alive one last time.”
The tour will showcase a career-spanning setlist featuring the band’s biggest hits, deep cuts, and possibly a few surprises. It promises to be an emotional and electrifying tribute to the band’s history and the fans who stood by them.
Tickets are expected to sell quickly, as fans gear up to say farewell to one of the most enduring acts in rock and roll. Lynyrd Skynyrd’s final tour isn’t just the end of an era—it’s a celebration of everything they’ve stood for since their humble beginnings in Jacksonville, Florida.
